I am always so excited for a new season. I remember being at University and that season really dragging on, I couldn't wait to finish so I could start pursuing music. Annnnd now here I am in my next season, not only pursuing music but actually writing and recording my own songs.
So this week has been like most weeks already this 2019.... REALLY BUSY! The good thing is I began recording on Saturday and it was an amazing experience. This season isn't one that I want to rush. Although I am so excited for all of my friends, family and fans to hear my EP, I want to enjoy the process of recording and be in the moment rather than wishing it away. I am so thankful for all of the support that I have received and I am so excited for the next few months.
Charlie, Stuart and I have been working hard on the Track 1 of the EP. I am honestly so grateful to have such talented people in my corner. My friend Charlie drove up with me and did all of the guitar parts like a boss in one day. My advice to anyone looking to record or make music is get friends around you who want to see you win, who want to help you and get the bits done that you yourself may not be best at. I love music but I am a musician who knows what they want in their head but I cannot often play it myself. I feel many people are like that, they don't know how to replicate what their mind is hearing. It something that I always thought made me a poor songwriter but actually when I hear it I know! It is good to know your strengths and weaknesses. I know that music theory and quick guitar parts are a little weakness of mine so I am teaching myself and hoping to improve those weaknesses over this year. I'd encourage you today that if you feel weak in an area, play to your strength and if you want to get better keep practicing!
Recording this week was such a weird experience. Whilst I was sat listening to my song that I had only ever heard done acoustically, it was weird adding parts and other instruments in. It dawned on me that it was actually happening. I was recording in a studio. I was making my own music. I thought back to a 13 year old me who dreamed of this day, for so many years I put it off and it is one of my biggest regrets. However, I believe everything happens for a reason in life. I didn't record sooner because NOW is the time. I am so excited for the next recording session and I cannot wait to share more with you all soon.
Recording is going so well and I hope this post encourages you to keep going and chase what you want.
